MEET OUR DIRECTORS:

Rhonda Peterson - Director
Anne Marie Weiss - Asst. Director

Rhonda Peterson began working at Mountainside Academy in February of 2001.  She originally began as a part time teacher in our Two Year Old Room.  Within a short amount of time she became the full time Lead teacher in our Three Year Old Room.  She has also worked as a Pre-K teacher in our Georgia Pre-K classes, and as the program Director and Lead teacher of our Summer Camp Program.  In 2005 she accepted the position of Asst. Director, and then went on to become Mountainside Academy’s Director in 2006.

Anne Marie Weiss is the “Original Mountainside Employee”.  She was the first teacher hired when Mountainside Academy opened its doors in March of 2000.  She has worked in every classroom from Infants to Pre-K, but spent most of her time as the Lead Teacher in our Toddler Room.  Anne Marie accepted the Asst. Director position in 2006.

ON A PERSONAL LEVEL:
Rhonda Peterson and Anne Marie Weiss have a true love of teaching.  Although they are now in the management side of the industry, it is their love of teaching that inspires them to be supportive of their teachers, and promote creativity. It is their goal to help their staff create the best learning environments they can. They both enjoy bonding with all the children, and are often found in the classrooms rather than in the office.   It is a true relationship with both children and parents that they enjoy.

Our Philosophy:

Mountainside Academy’s learning philosophy is to nurture a child’s learning through their own creativity, and individualism, and to always support each child with the love and encouragement of our teachers. Our qualified teachers create curriculum based on more than the age appropriate guidelines of children as a whole, but also based on each child’s own level. We believe that this helps each child strengthen areas in which they may struggle and excel in the areas they are gifted in.

Mountainside Academy also believes that the key to a child’s growth and progress is a strong relationship with parents.  Consultations, and daily reports ensures that all parents are aware of daily activities, in addition to letting the parents know what their child is enjoying in their classrooms.
